Conventions
- FenCon-- Dallas, TX. Had a blast. A well run second year (soon to be third) con.
- Panda*Monium -- Norman, OK (attended as a guest in 2004) Great time for a start up convention and hope they will be doing a repeat performance in 2006.
- ConDFW -- Dallas, TX. The con was excellent, though small because there was a media con happening on the same weekend. A few interesting pics here.
- Apollocon -- Houston, TX. Can't say enough good things about the con com.
- Conestoga -- Tulsa, OK. My home con and Oklahoma's largest and longest running fan organized literary SF/F convention. This year it was a blast.

- Publishers of Note
- Agog! Press -- Cat Sparks is an award winning writer and editor. Watch the Aussie SF revolution as it starts. Check out the critically acclaimed Ripping Reads!
- Yard Dog Press -- Selina Rosen is a force of nature and a very professional editor (and writer). YDP is by her own account a micro-press, but she's taking the chances big publishers won't.
- Meisha-Merlin Publishing -- Stephen Pagel is one of the most interesting and devoted individuals I have met so far in the business side of the industry. He does not philosophically believe in disposable books. Meisha-Merlin produces quality trade paperbacks and hardcovers. It had once been a small press, but now it's considered an independent.
- Phobos Books -- Had been running the Phobos Awards. Great people with vision. Special thanks to Sandra Schulberg, Keith Olexa, and John Ordover.
- Fantasist Enterprises -- Publishers of Fantastical Visions anthologies. Nice books with great production values.
- Friends
- K. D. Wentworth -- OSFW mainstay and accomplished novelist and short story writer. Manages to put up with neo-pro writers amazingly well. Perhaps it comes from her former life of teaching second grade.
- Alexis Glynn Latner -- My mentor while in Houston and responsible for my first sale to PanGaia.
- Rhonda Eudaly -- A fellow neo-pro writer who has been wonderful during our first collaborative effort that will be out looking for a market very soon.
- Scott and Victoria Nemmers -- Friends from way back at UND (and before).
- Amy Sisson -- Also a neo-pro writer who has made her mark in the Strange New Worlds anthologies.
- David Walton -- Another neo-pro author friend. Will also be featured in Fantastical Visions IV and was one of the Phobos Award winners. The anthology was titled after his winning story.
- Resources
- Ralan's Webstravaganza -- a must for any aspiring author.
- SFWA -- Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. The organization that decides who is pro or not. Lots of good stuff for writers even if not a member.
- OSFW -- Oklahoma Science Fiction Writers. Have no idea how recent this site is... e-mail me if you're interested.
- Other Stuff
- Stone Soup Films -- Connected with this artistic effort through Tony Bruno who actually got me writing in high school. Interesting short films.
- Starlion -- Was involved in the process when this comic book was originally conceived as a novel.
